POEM FOR THEM
someone else wrote this poem before: we did
not need to know that to write it again, you did
not need to know that i wrote it for you, he did
not need to know that i wrote it for you. she was
circling the night with me and what was wild once
we tamed some, made into something tangible. she was
not touching nothing for the sake of it, rather: he did
not tear down the trees and we clung and clung, you did
not know it but i was willing to do anything for you, we did
stay thankful, shameless, picking fleas out, pressing down.
